Maypark Donnycarney – upgrade

Cllr. Heney wishes to advise constituents that the upgrade works at Maypark continue.

Flowering cherry trees have now been planted across the centre of the park.

A contractor is due to be appointed in the coming weeks to carry out works on the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) which is to be resurfaced. The boards in the MUGA will be repaired, and the hoops and backboards will be replaced and repainted.

Works have been completed on the resurfacing of existing paths in the park.

A small number of mature trees are due to be removed on health and safety grounds (after bird nesting season).

Painting of railings is ongoing and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. This work was delayed somewhat by recent inclement weather.

A small amount of additional seating will be introduced, however the design and location of the seating is yet to be decided upon.

A small amount of wildflower seed will be sown in the coming weeks along northern boundary wall (on a trial basis) as an alternative to spraying.
